Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2020, Thomas was an Associate at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, where he focused on capital structure advisory and event-driven financing solutions for large US and Japanese corporates. Thomas graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University with a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics.

Vice President

Sam Cappell is a Vice President at Metropolitan. His responsibilities include deal execution and portfolio analytics. Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2020, Sam was an Investment Analyst at Lloyd Crescendo Advisors, a lower middle-market private credit firm. Previously, Sam was an Equity Sales & Trading Analyst at Morgan Stanley. Sam graduated cum laude from NYU Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Finance and Economics.

Richard Lin

Managing Director

Richard Lin is a Managing Director at Metropolitan Partners Group Management having joined in 2013. Richard’s investment responsibilities include sourcing, evaluating and executing deals within Metropolitan’s investment strategy. SourcePass and Upstack are Richards’ notable deals. Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2013, Richard was an investment professional at Black Diamond Capital Management and GSC Group in their special situation private equity practice. Prior to that, Richard was an investment banker at Bank of America. Richard graduated cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Finance and Accounting.

Max Segal

Principal

Max Segal is a Principal at Metropolitan. His responsibilities include deal execution and portfolio analytics. Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2019, Max was an Investment Banking Analyst at Pursuit Advisory, a TMT-focused merchant bank where he advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and debt and equity financings. Previously, Max was an Equity Research Analyst at Nomura. Max received a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the NYU Stern School of Business.

Lucas Lieberman

Lucas Lieberman

Senior Associate

Lucas Lieberman is a Senior Associate at Metropolitan. His responsibilities include deal execution and portfolio analytics. Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2021, Lucas was a Senior Analyst at Brevet Capital Management, an investment management firm focused on direct lending. At Brevet, Lucas was responsible for closing private credit investments, restructuring existing assets and monitoring portfolio companies. Lucas graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University D’Amore-McKim School of Business with a B.S. in International Business and minors in Economics and Mandarin Chinese.

Kevin O’Block

Vice President

Kevin O’Block is a Vice President at Metropolitan. His responsibilities include monitoring and ongoing evaluation of the firm’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2013, Kevin worked for McKinsey & Co. performing sales and performance analysis out of the company’s Boston office. He received a B.A. in English with a minor in Economics from Boston College.

JD Sheldon

JD Sheldon

Principal

JD Sheldon is a Principal at Metropolitan. His responsibilities include sourcing, evaluating, and executing firm investments along with asset management with a specific focus in the consumer debt finance vertical. Prior to joining Metropolitan in 2019, he was CFO at CreditMax, a specialized lender to debt buyers, where he oversaw the funding of over $400 million across more than 1,500 transactions with less than 2% principal loan loss. Prior to CreditMax, JD held multiple roles for one of the country’s largest debt purchasers, Equable Ascent Financial. He graduated with a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Augustana College and also holds a M.A. in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Anthony Siragusa

Anthony Siragusa is a Senior Associate at Metropolitan Partners Group Management. His responsibilities include the management, evaluation, and workout of investments. Prior to joining Metropolitan, Anthony was a Senior Analyst with LBC Credit Partners where he focused on portfolio management and analytics of private credit investments. Previously, Anthony was an Analyst at JPMorgan Chase in the Middle Market Banking group. Anthony received a B.A. in Finance from the Villanova School of Business.

Alex Verba

Alex Verba

Principal

Alex Verba is a Principal in Metropolitan’s Asset Management team where his responsibilities include the management, evaluation, and workout of investments. Prior to joining Metropolitan, Alex was the Senior Vice President at A&J Capital, where he successfully structured, invested, and managed a portfolio of $400 million in real estate assets. Alex worked on multiple debtor and credit side turnaround engagements at Alix Partners, and his professional history spans direct investing in high yield, leveraged loans, and distressed assets at TIAA-CREF and CIT. Alex graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University, holds an M.A. in International Studies from the Lauder School of University of Pennsylvania, and received his M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School.

Fred Ganning, JR.

Fred Ganning, JR.

Investment Committee Member

Since 2012, Fred Ganning has been on Metropolitan’s Investment Committee and has served multiple leadership and advisory positions at Metropolitan contributing to business development, investment due diligence, firm management, and portfolio oversight. Fred held a 25+ year career at the Man Group PLC and ED&F Man Holdings Ltd. As Managing Director at ED&F Man Holdings LTD, he set the strategic direction for the ED&F Man Cocoa and Coffee Ltd. division, determined trading strategies and the risk profile of the division, and managed the senior staff in physical and futures trading in London, New York, Singapore and Brazil. He received an M.B.A. in Quantitative Analysis and a B.S. in Finance from Seton Hall University, where he currently serves as adjunct faculty.
